Carriers This Shop Bills Directly
01
What direct billing changes for you
When a shop bills a carrier directly, the money moves between the shop and the carrier rather than through your bank account. You pay the deductible and nothing else on the covered portion. That is convenience rather than a change to your coverage, and it is worth being clear about which is which.
The part that genuinely matters is process familiarity. Every carrier runs a different estimating platform, wants supplements packaged differently, and has its own threshold for what documentation moves a file. A shop that has submitted fifty files into a given system knows what gets funded on the first pass and what comes back with questions. That knowledge shortens the calendar more than any negotiation does.
02
You choose the shop, not the carrier
California law puts the choice of repair facility with the vehicle owner. A carrier may recommend a shop, may describe a network, and may explain what it will and will not fund. It may not require you to use a particular facility as a condition of paying a covered claim.
That is worth knowing before the first call, because the recommendation often arrives phrased in a way that sounds like a requirement. If a coach is going to sit in a bay for six weeks, the facility doing the work matters more than the convenience of the referral.
03
If your carrier is not listed
The list below covers the carriers that appear most often on files at this facility. It is not a limit. A carrier that does not appear is handled the same way: the shop documents the loss, writes the scope, submits it into whatever system that carrier uses, and keeps you copied on the exchange.
Self insured fleets and public agency risk pools work the same way, with the paperwork adjusted to whatever the purchase order process requires.
Carriers billed directly
OCRV Center is an independent repair facility. The companies listed here are carriers we routinely bill and correspond with on customer claims. Listing a carrier is a statement of billing experience only. It does not indicate affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, certification, authorization or any preferred shop arrangement, and every company name and mark belongs to its owner. Under California law the vehicle owner selects the repair facility, not the insurer.
Progressive
Progressive writes a very large share of the RV policies we see from Lake Forest owners, and their adjusters are generally comfortable with photo based supplements. What tends to slow a Progressive file is the initial estimate, which is often written from submitted photographs before anyone has opened a panel. We plan on a teardown supplement from the start.
GEICO
GEICO files usually arrive with a clean claim number and a fast first contact, and the recreational vehicle side is handled separately from the auto side. The friction point is almost always labor rate, because the rate survey behind the first estimate is built on passenger car shops. Documented facility capability is what moves that conversation.
State Farm
State Farm claims often run through a local agent who knows the customer, which helps when a repair plan needs a human explanation. Their adjusters tend to want in person reinspection on larger coach work. We schedule those visits at a point in teardown where the exposed structure actually tells the story, not before.
AAA Southern California
AAA Southern California policies are common across Orange County and the club side and the insurance side are different organizations, which confuses more than a few owners. On coach claims their appraisers are usually receptive to a written repair plan submitted ahead of inspection, and that single habit shortens the approval cycle more than anything else we do.
AAA Enterprises
AAA Enterprises appears on some Orange County recreational vehicle policies and on a share of the towable business. Files tend to move at a steady rather than fast pace. The most useful thing an owner can do on this carrier is get the vehicle to the shop early so measurement and teardown documentation exists before the first appraisal.
Mercury
Mercury is a California heavy book and their adjusters know regional labor rates well, which removes one of the usual arguments. Where Mercury files get complicated is towables, because a fifth wheel or travel trailer is sometimes scheduled under a different endorsement than the truck. We confirm which unit the claim actually covers before writing anything.
Allstate
Allstate estimates on recreational vehicles frequently reference passenger car labor operations that do not exist on a coach, so a bumper cover operation gets applied to a molded fiberglass cap. Correcting that means rewriting the line items with the actual construction described. It is tedious and it is where most of the recovered dollars on an Allstate file come from.
American Family
American Family shows up mostly on coaches purchased out of state and then registered in California. Their recreational vehicle adjusters are typically knowledgeable about house systems, which is unusual and welcome. Documentation of interior damage travels well on these files, so we photograph cabinetry, flooring and appliance mounts in the same pass as the exterior.
Wawanesa
Wawanesa writes tightly and reviews carefully, and a supplement submitted without exposed condition photographs will come back with questions. That is not obstruction, it is a documentation standard. Files we build with staged teardown images and a written explanation of why each operation is required tend to clear on the first review.
National General
National General carries a lot of dedicated recreational vehicle business and their specialty adjusters understand full timer coverage, attached accessories and vacation liability in a way general auto adjusters do not. On these files it is worth asking early which endorsements apply, because personal effects and attached equipment are frequently covered separately.
CSAA
CSAA files reach us occasionally from owners who moved south from Northern California and kept the policy. Communication is usually handled through a regional claims team rather than a single named adjuster, so we keep every submission self contained and repeat the key measurements in each document rather than referencing an earlier email.
Foremost
Foremost has written recreational vehicle and specialty risk for decades and their appraisers rarely need coach construction explained to them. Where their files get difficult is valuation on older units, because the specialty guide values they pull can sit well below what a well kept coach actually trades for in Southern California. Comparable listings matter here.
Liberty Mutual
Liberty Mutual routes larger recreational vehicle losses to independent appraisers, which means the person inspecting the coach may not be the person authorizing the money. We write for both audiences: photographs and measurements for the appraiser, and a plain language repair narrative for the desk adjuster who signs off on the file.
Tesla Insurance
Tesla Insurance turns up on the tow vehicle side of towable claims and on electric chassis conversions. Their process is app driven and fast when the damage is straightforward, and slower when a claim involves anything the app flow does not anticipate. High resolution photo sets and a written scope uploaded early keep those files from stalling.
Cincinnati
Cincinnati Insurance appears mostly on commercial policies covering box trucks, service bodies and mobile business builds. Their commercial adjusters think in terms of downtime and equipment value, so an estimate that separates body repair from upfit restoration and states a realistic return to service date gets read the way it was intended.
AGWS
AGWS administers service contracts rather than collision policies, so files that arrive under an AGWS number are usually component failures on slides, levelers, generators or appliances. Those claims run on failure documentation, not impact documentation. We record the failure mode, the part number and the diagnostic path before any part is removed.
Good Sam
Good Sam policies are written specifically for recreational vehicle owners and frequently include agreed value, full timer liability and emergency expense provisions that a standard auto policy has no equivalent for. Owners often do not know what they bought. Reading the declarations page before the estimate is written changes what we can legitimately include.
Safeco
Safeco files move quickly on smaller losses and their photo estimating tool handles cosmetic damage reasonably well. The tool has no concept of a bonded sandwich panel, so anything involving sidewall separation or core damage needs a human appraiser assigned. Requesting that reassignment early saves a week of back and forth later.
Esurance
Esurance runs a largely digital claim process built around passenger vehicles, and camper vans on a Sprinter, Transit or ProMaster chassis fit that model better than a forty foot coach does. On van conversions we make a point of documenting the conversion contents separately from the chassis so the two do not get valued as one unit.
National Interstate
National Interstate is a commercial and specialty transportation carrier, so their files at this shop tend to be buses, shuttles, transporters and larger commercial bodies. Their adjusters are used to fleet documentation standards. Unit numbers, in service dates and prior repair history on the same asset are expected in the submission, not requested afterward.
Nationwide
Nationwide writes both personal recreational vehicle and commercial policies, and which desk a claim lands on changes how it is handled. Personal lines files often move through a photo review first. Commercial files go straight to a field appraiser. Confirming the routing on day one tells us whether to prepare for a screen or for a walkaround.
