Making This Site Usable For Everyone

This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Pages are built from semantic HTML, work end to end from a keyboard, show a visible focus ring, keep touch targets large, meet contrast minimums and reflow at narrow widths. Two third party embeds sit outside that control and are named below.

01

The target and what it means

The conformance target for this site is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at Level AA. That is the standard most commonly referenced in United States accessibility practice, and version 2.2 is the current release, which adds criteria on target size, focus appearance, dragging alternatives and reducing the cognitive load of authentication and repeated entry.

Level AA is a target that is worked toward continuously rather than a certificate that is earned once. This page states where the site is now, including where it falls short. Claiming complete conformance across pages that embed third party content would not be honest, and the two gaps are named further down instead of being buried.

Accessibility here is treated as part of the build rather than a retrofit. The structural decisions that matter most, semantic markup, keyboard operability, a light only palette with measured contrast, were made before the first page was written, because they are difficult to add afterwards.

02

What has already been done

These are measures that exist in the shipped code, not intentions. Each one is checkable by anyone who wants to check it.

Semantic HTML first
Pages are built from headings, lists, tables, native form controls and the details element rather than from generic containers wired up with script. Every page carries one first level heading and a heading order that does not skip a level, so a screen reader user can move through a page by structure. Tables use real header cells with a scope, and frequently asked questions use native disclosure widgets that expose their state without any custom code.
Keyboard operability throughout
Everything that can be done with a pointer can be done with a keyboard. Navigation, the service menus, the frequently asked question panels, the calculators and the contact form are all reachable and operable in tab order, and nothing traps focus. Because the accordions are native disclosure elements rather than scripted panels, they respond correctly to enter and space without any custom key handling to go wrong.
Visible focus that is not subtle
Focus is drawn with a three pixel outline offset from the element, so it reads clearly against both the light page background and the dark navy call to action bands. Focus is never removed and never replaced with a colour change alone, and the ring is never obscured by an adjacent sticky element.
Touch targets at forty four pixels
Buttons, navigation links and form controls carry a minimum height of forty four pixels, which satisfies the WCAG 2.2 target size criterion with margin to spare. Inline links inside body text sit within paragraphs at generous line spacing so neighbouring targets are not crowded together.
Contrast measured, not eyeballed
The palette was chosen against measured ratios rather than by appearance. Body text and muted secondary text clear the four and a half to one minimum for normal text, large headings clear the three to one minimum, and interface borders and focus indicators clear the three to one non text minimum. The site ships a single light palette, which means there is no second theme where those ratios could silently drift.
Reflow at three hundred and twenty pixels
Content reflows to a single column at a viewport width of three hundred and twenty pixels without requiring horizontal scrolling to read a sentence. Wide content that genuinely cannot reflow, such as a rate table or a wide diagram, scrolls inside its own container so the page body itself never scrolls sideways.
Nothing hidden behind hover alone
No information appears only on hover. Navigation panels open on focus as well as on pointer, and any content that a hover would reveal is also reachable on a page that can be read straight through. Additional content triggered by pointer position can be dismissed without moving the pointer and stays visible while it is being read.
Motion respects the system preference
Transitions are short and functional. Where the browser reports a reduced motion preference, animation and transition durations collapse to near zero and nothing auto plays, auto scrolls or parallaxes. There is no carousel that moves by itself and no video that starts without a deliberate action.
Forms labelled and errors announced
Every field on the contact form has a visible label bound to its control, along with help text where the expected format is not obvious. When validation fails, the field is marked invalid, the error message is linked to the field through aria-describedby so it is read as part of the field, and a summary is announced through a live region rather than appearing silently above the fold. Error messages say what to change instead of only saying that something is wrong.

03

How the site gets checked

Automated tooling catches a useful fraction of accessibility defects and misses the rest, so it is one input rather than the whole method. The routine combines it with manual passes.

  • Keyboard only passes through every template: navigation, service pages, the price tables, the calculators and the contact form, checking tab order, focus visibility and escape behavior.
  • Screen reader spot checks on the page structures that carry the most information, particularly the rate tables and the disclosure panels, confirming that headers, states and error text are announced.
  • Automated rule checks run against the built pages to catch regressions such as a missing label, a heading level skip or an insufficient contrast pair.
  • Reflow and zoom checks at three hundred and twenty pixels wide and at four hundred percent zoom, confirming that no content is lost or clipped and that only the intended containers scroll sideways.
  • Reduced motion checks with the system preference enabled, confirming that nothing animates and nothing moves without a deliberate action.

04

Known limitations, stated plainly

Some parts of this site are rendered by companies the shop does not control. Those are listed here rather than left for a visitor to discover.

The embedded map
The contact page, the geography page and the footer each embed an interactive map served by a third party mapping provider. The embed is given a descriptive title and is not the only route to the information, because the full street address, the cross street context and driving directions are all written out in text nearby. Inside the embed itself, the pan and zoom behavior, the labelling of the controls and the contrast of the map tiles are set by the provider and cannot be corrected from here.
Third party video
Where a video from an external platform is embedded, the player user interface, its caption rendering and its keyboard behavior belong to that platform. Captions are requested on anything the shop publishes, but a player control that is difficult to reach is a property of the player, not of this site. Any video is supplementary, so no information exists only inside one.
Documents and legacy pages
Older material carried over from previous versions of the site, and any downloadable document, may not meet the same standard as a page rendered here. Anything of that kind is being reviewed, and a text equivalent is provided on request at once rather than after the review finishes.

05

Reporting a barrier

If something on this site blocked you, the shop wants to hear about it, and a report costs nothing and takes a minute. Call (949) 799-3387 during posted business hours and ask for the person handling the website, or email info@ocrvcenter.com with the word accessibility in the subject line.

A useful report names the page address, describes what you were trying to do, and says what happened instead. If you know your browser, operating system and assistive technology, include those, because a defect that only appears in one combination is much faster to reproduce when the combination is known. A guess is fine; nobody is expected to file a technical bug report.

Reports are acknowledged within two business days. Anything that blocks a visitor from reaching the shop is treated as urgent and fixed ahead of other work. Where a fix will take longer, the information is supplied another way in the meantime, by phone, by email or in a plain text document, so no one is left waiting on a code change to get an answer about their vehicle.

06

Accommodation at the facility

The website is one half of this. The building is the other. Customers who need an accommodation when they bring a vehicle to Yorba Linda should call ahead on (949) 799-3387 so the visit can be arranged around what is needed rather than around what is convenient for the schedule.

Accessible parking sits close to the office entrance and the path from it to the front counter is step level. Staff will come out to the vehicle to take intake details where a customer would rather not come inside, and estimate walkthroughs can be conducted at the vehicle instead of at the counter. Where a customer prefers not to travel for a routine conversation, condition photographs, the written authorization and progress updates can all be handled by phone or email, so only the vehicle has to make the trip.

Documents can be read aloud, printed at a larger size or emailed in a format a screen reader handles cleanly. A companion, an interpreter or a support person is welcome in the office and in the customer viewing area. Service animals are welcome anywhere a customer is permitted; the shop floor itself stays restricted for everyone because of overhead work and paint operations, which is a safety rule rather than an access one. Requests made a day or two ahead are easier to meet well, though a request made at the counter will still be met.

07

Ongoing work

This statement is reviewed at least once a year and whenever a template changes in a way that affects structure, focus order or contrast. New pages are checked against the same list before they are published, and the checks travel with the build rather than sitting in a separate process that can be skipped. If a criterion on this page stops being true, the honest move is to change the page, and that is what happens.
