Getting Started

Everything about the first contact and the first visit. How work starts at the Yorba Linda facility, what to bring with you, whether an appointment is needed, and what document you walk away with once the vehicle has actually been looked at.

How do I start a repair with OCRV Center?
Call (949) 799-3387 and describe the vehicle, the damage and whether the unit still drives. That call decides the routing: a collision loss goes to the body department, a slide or water problem goes to the systems side, and a claim needs a carrier name plus a claim number if one already exists. The shop then sets a time to look at the vehicle in person. Collision estimates are written at the shop and insurance walk-ins are welcome during business hours. Nothing is scoped from a phone description alone, because a phone description has never once matched what a technician finds standing next to the panel.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Both work, with a caveat. Walk-ins for a collision look are welcome during business hours, and an insurance walk-in during an open claim is routine. Anything that needs a bay, a lift or a technician for more than a few minutes gets an appointment instead, because a 40 foot coach cannot be worked on in the aisle. If you are driving 19 miles from Lake Forest, call ahead so the shop can tell you whether the department you need is covered that day. Saturday hours are shorter and staffing is lighter, so complex assessments land better on a weekday.
What should I bring to the first visit?
Bring registration or title, your insurance card, and a claim number if a claim is already open. Bring photographs from the scene if there was one, including wide frames rather than only close shots. If the vehicle carries aftermarket work such as solar, a lithium bank, a custom galley or a commercial upfit, bring receipts or model numbers, because none of that appears on the original build sheet and nobody can price what nobody can identify. Keys to every compartment help. So does a written list of symptoms in your own words, written before you arrive rather than recalled at the counter.
What happens when I arrive at the shop?
The vehicle is received and photographed on arrival, all four corners plus the roof line where access allows. Mileage, unit condition and pre-existing damage are logged so older damage never gets confused with the current loss. Doors, compartments and slide rooms are cycled. If the visit concerns a collision, panel gaps are compared side to side with a written measurement rather than an impression. If it concerns a system, the technician reproduces the symptom before opening anything. You are walked through what was found before you leave, and the written document follows by phone or email.
Does my RV have to be drivable to bring it in?
No. A large share of the work here arrives on a transport trailer or behind a wrecker, and the yard is laid out for exactly that. What matters is that the shop knows in advance, because a non-drivable 40 foot coach needs a specific approach into a bay and a specific place to sit while it waits. Arranging the recovery itself is the owner's side of it, since this facility is in-shop only and does not dispatch trucks.
Can I drop the vehicle off and leave it?
Yes, and most owners do. Drop-off is scheduled so the unit is received while someone from the correct department is available to walk it with you. You sign an authorization for the assessment, hand over keys and a contact number that reaches the decision maker, and go. Everything after that arrives in writing. If a claim is involved, the shop needs the carrier name, the claim number and the adjuster contact at drop-off, because a file missing an adjuster email address stalls before any work has started.
Which photos and documents actually help?
Wide before tight. Images showing the whole vehicle and where it came to rest tell an appraiser far more than a close shot of a cracked corner. Shoot each corner, then the affected quarter, then the damage itself, then anything that changed elsewhere: a compartment that will not latch, a slide that now needs a push, a seam that opened above the impact. Add the other driver's insurance card if there was one. Pull your declarations page too, since the endorsements printed on it decide what can legitimately be included in a repair scope.
Who do I call to get started?
One number reaches the shop: (949) 799-3387. There is no separate line per department, so describe the vehicle and the problem at the start of the call and it gets routed from there. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM, closed Sunday. Calls placed near closing on Saturday are generally returned Monday morning. For claim work, have the carrier name and claim number in front of you when you dial, because the first question will be which of the two desks the file landed on.
What does the first visit actually produce?
A written document, not a verbal number. On a collision that means a repair plan listing operations, part numbers and hours, along with the photograph set taken at intake. On a systems complaint it means a findings report stating what was reproduced, what was measured and what correcting it involves. Price bands published on this site are planning figures; the written estimate is produced after the vehicle is inspected at the shop. Where a claim is open, that same document goes to the carrier ahead of the appraiser visit rather than after it.
My RV is arriving on a transport. Is anything different?
Tell the shop the arrival window and the transport company before the truck rolls. A unit coming off a trailer needs ground space, a straight pull-off and frequently a second person spotting, and that gets scheduled rather than improvised around whatever else is in the yard. If the coach cannot roll under its own power, say so plainly, because the receiving approach changes completely. Photographs are taken as the unit comes off the trailer, which also protects you if it picked up damage somewhere between the pickup point and Yorba Linda.
How far ahead should I call?
For a collision assessment, a day or two is usually enough. For a bay slot on a large job, plan on weeks rather than days, and add more in spring when every coach in Orange County comes out of storage at once. Insurance work is different again: call the day the loss happens, because the claim timeline starts running whether or not the vehicle has reached a shop yet. Getting the unit here early means measurements and photographs already exist by the time an appraiser is even assigned to the file.
Can someone else bring the vehicle in for me?
Yes, provided they can authorize the assessment or you authorize it separately in writing. A spouse, a dealer, a transport driver or a fleet manager can all deliver a unit here. What the shop needs is a signature from someone entitled to give it and a phone number that reaches whoever makes the spending decision. On a claim the person dropping off does not need to be the policyholder, but the policyholder name has to match what the carrier has on the file, or the first submission bounces.
What if I do not know what is wrong?
That is a normal starting point and it is exactly what an evaluation exists for. Describe the symptom rather than guessing at a cause: water on the floor after rain, a slide that stops halfway out, a smell near the refrigerator, cabin lights that dim when the generator picks up load. An RV systems evaluation covering slides, awnings, water, electrical or generator work is $150, credited against an authorized repair. In-depth diagnostic time runs one hour minimum at $285 per hour, also credited against an authorized repair.

Pricing and Payment

What the shop charges, how a published planning range turns into a written number, and every fee that can appear on an invoice. Rates, materials, parts markup, deposits, tax, and what happens when a repair grows after teardown.

What are the labor rates?
Body and paint labor is $210 per hour. Mechanical and electrical labor is $260 per hour. Diagnostics, scan and programming runs $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, credited against an authorized repair. Detail work is $95 per hour. Most jobs of any size touch more than one of those rates, which is why an estimate lists hours by department instead of collapsing everything into one blended figure. Insurance billed work may be invoiced at carrier negotiated labor rates that differ from the posted retail rates.
How does a published price band become a real number?
The band is a planning figure built from completed jobs of that type. The written estimate comes from your vehicle. A technician measures, opens what needs opening, counts panels, prices the actual parts and assigns hours by operation. Materials, hazmat where it applies and tax on the taxable portion get added. That document is what you authorize. Bands exist on this site so nobody drives 19 miles from Lake Forest expecting a $600 repair on a job that has never once been completed for less than $4,000.
What are the paint and body material charges?
Paint supplies are calculated at $55 per paint hour and body supplies at $5 per body hour, and both appear as their own lines on every estimate. Those cover sealer, base, clear, activators, masking, abrasives, adhesives, filler and the rest of what a refinish actually consumes. A hazmat and disposal charge of $45 flat applies when chemicals, refrigerant or LP are involved. Showing the material math rather than folding it into a lump sum is deliberate, because a number written that way can be checked line by line.
How is parts pricing calculated?
Parts priced at $100 or less carry 100 percent markup. Parts above $100 carry 35 percent markup. That structure exists because a $6 clip costs about as much to source, receive and shelve as a $600 door skin does, and a flat percentage across everything would not cover the handling on small items. Sales tax of 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials. Labor is not taxed. Every part on an invoice appears with its number, so what was ordered and what was installed can be compared against each other.
What deposits are required?
Jobs over $2,000 take a 50 percent deposit at authorization. Jobs over $10,000 take an additional 25 percent when the parts arrive. The final balance is due at pickup, and no vehicle leaves the property until the invoice has been settled in full. The staged structure exists because a coach repair commits a large parts order and a large block of bay time well before there is anything finished to hand back. On claim work, carrier payments are applied against that same schedule as they arrive.
Why do special order parts have to be paid up front?
Special order parts require payment in full when the order is placed, and that deposit is non refundable. A molded cap, a discontinued window frame or a coach specific compartment door is pulled or built for one vehicle and cannot be returned to stock or sold to the next customer through the door. Fitment and interchange get confirmed before the order goes out rather than after the crate lands, because a rejected part with a measurement attached to it is the only real protection against paying for something that will not mount.
Is there a surcharge for paying by card?
Card payments above $1,000 carry a 3.5 percent surcharge, which passes through the merchant fee on high ticket work. Below that threshold no surcharge applies. On a large repair the difference is real money, so owners settling a five figure invoice frequently choose another method once they see the arithmetic. Either way the surcharge is disclosed on the estimate before you authorize anything, so it is never a line that turns up quietly on the paperwork at pickup.
Is sales tax charged on the whole invoice?
No. Sales tax of 7.75 percent applies to parts and materials only. Labor is not taxed in California, and on body repair the labor side is frequently the larger half of the total. That is why an invoice separates the two rather than presenting a single figure: the tax line has to be verifiable against the taxable portion, and it cannot be if everything is blended. Paint and body supply charges are materials and are taxed accordingly. Hours are not.
Why do two similar looking jobs price so differently?
Because the visible sheet is the smallest variable in the equation. A dent in a flat riveted aluminum panel and a dent in a bonded laminated wall look identical from ten feet away and are entirely different repairs. Then add paint: a single stage white refinish and a tri coat with a metallic variant deck are not the same operation. Then add access, cap tooling availability, whether a slide had to come out, and whether the framing behind the skin moved. Visible damage is the least informative part of any coach estimate.
What does the $150 RV systems evaluation cover?
It covers a structured look at a slide, awning, water, electrical or generator complaint: reproducing the symptom, testing the mechanism or circuit involved, taking moisture readings where water is suspected, inspecting the components that commonly fail alongside it, and producing written findings with a recommended correction. It is $150, credited against an authorized repair. It stops short of teardown and it is not the same thing as a full pre-purchase inspection. Where the fault needs instrumented tracing, the diagnostic rate applies from that point and you are told before it starts.
What is the $285 diagnostic hour for?
In-depth diagnostic time runs one hour minimum at $285 per hour, credited against an authorized repair. That rate covers scan tools, manufacturer procedures, wiring diagrams and the technician time needed to chase an intermittent fault back to its actual source rather than replacing parts until the symptom happens to stop. Chassis systems with driver assistance features, multiplexed 12V networks, inverter faults and transfer switch problems are the usual candidates. Straightforward failures rarely need it, and nobody is billed diagnostic time on a problem that is visible in five minutes.
What payment methods are accepted?
Cash, check and major cards, with the 3.5 percent surcharge applying only to card payments above $1,000. On insurance work the carrier typically issues payment directly or jointly, and the deductible plus anything outside the approved scope is settled by the owner. Financing, where an owner wants it, is arranged through their own lender rather than in house. Whichever method you use, the balance clears before the vehicle leaves the property, and that applies to claim files exactly as it applies to retail work.
What happens if the scope grows after teardown?
You are told before anything else is touched. Additional damage found during teardown is photographed in place, priced, and sent to you as a revised scope, and on a claim it goes to the carrier as a supplement. Work stops on the affected items until that revision is approved in writing. Nothing outside an approved scope is performed here on a verbal go-ahead, because verbal approvals evaporate when a file changes hands. Scope growth on structural work is the normal outcome rather than a sign of trouble, since the first estimate was written through the skin.
Why is there a hazmat charge on my invoice?
A $45 flat hazmat and disposal charge applies when chemicals, refrigerant or LP form part of the job. Refinish work generates solvent waste, LP service means purging and capturing fuel, and appliance work can involve refrigerant. All of that leaves the property through licensed disposal channels rather than a shop drain, and the charge covers handling and manifesting. It is a fixed amount rather than a percentage, so it does not scale with the size of the invoice or with how long the vehicle sat here.

Insurance Claims

A claim is a documentation exercise far more than it is a negotiation. These answers describe how a file moves at this shop, who handles which conversation, and what a carrier needs to see. None of it is legal advice.

How does a claim run from start to finish?
You report the loss and receive a claim number. The vehicle comes to the shop, where it is measured, photographed and scoped in writing. That scope goes to the carrier before or alongside the appraiser visit. Teardown follows authorization, whatever is found becomes a supplement, and repair resumes once the revised scope is approved in writing. Quality control and a walkthrough close the file. Cosmetic claims often clear in two to four weeks. Structural claims with a supplement cycle commonly run six to twelve weeks, and larger reconstruction runs beyond that.
Who talks to the adjuster, me or the shop?
The shop handles the technical half and you handle the coverage half. Operations, labor times, part numbers, structural findings and supplements all need someone standing next to an open panel, so that conversation runs from here. Your deductible, your endorsements, loss of use and anything about what your policy provides sits between you and your carrier, because nobody at a repair facility should be interpreting your coverage for you. Copies of every submission and every carrier response go to you as they happen rather than at the end.
What is a supplement and why does it come after teardown?
A supplement is a revision to the approved scope, filed once the vehicle is open and the real condition is finally visible. The first estimate is written with the skin on, and on a coach that skin hides nearly everything that matters: framing, core, wiring runs, plumbing and moisture. A supplement submitted with numbered photographs, moisture readings, measurements and a construction reason attached to each line clears review far faster than a list of items with a total at the bottom and nothing behind it.
When do I pay my deductible?
The deductible is the owner portion and it is settled with the shop at pickup, along with anything outside the approved scope. It is not waived, discounted or quietly absorbed here, and any shop offering to make a deductible disappear is describing something you do not want your name attached to. Where the carrier issues a joint check, the deductible is accounted for in how that payment gets applied. The invoice shows the carrier portion and the owner portion as separate figures so both can be checked.
Can I choose my own shop in California?
Yes. Under California law the vehicle owner selects the repair facility. A carrier may recommend a shop from its network and may not require one. Steering language usually arrives as a warning about delays or unpaid amounts if you go elsewhere, and the practical reality is that a well documented file from a facility that can physically take a 40 foot coach through the door tends to move faster, not slower. What happens if the carrier calls it a total loss?
A total loss gets declared when repair cost crosses a set percentage of actual cash value, and on an older recreational vehicle the value side of that equation is the soft one. Guide numbers for coaches are thin, comparable sales are scarce, and a well kept unit can end up valued alongside a neglected one of the same model year. The shop role is to supply the technical record: repair scope, structural measurements, condition photographs and documented recent work. What you decide to do about the valuation is your call.
What are betterment and depreciation deductions?
They are reductions applied on the theory that a new component leaves you better off than you were before the loss, and on genuine wear items they are legitimate. Where they go wrong on a coach is scope. A roof membrane is consumable. Decking, trusses, structural labor and sealant are not, and a percentage applied across a whole assembly is usually a shortcut rather than a considered figure. The response is an itemized breakdown separating consumable from structural, supported by condition photographs and moisture readings describing the pre-loss state.
Who pays for storage while the claim is under review?
Storage terms and the date the clock starts are given to you in writing at intake, so no number ever appears for the first time at pickup. During a claim, every submission and every carrier response is dated and timestamped, which produces a clean record of exactly where a delay sat. Carriers frequently dispute days that were not authorized in advance, so the practical protection is escalating in writing once a reinspection has not been scheduled after a reasonable interval, rather than letting a quiet file keep accruing.
My van has a custom build. How does that get documented?
Before anything comes out. Cabinetry construction, appliance model plates, battery chemistry markings, inverter and controller labels, breaker sizes, wiring runs and solar panel wattage stickers are all photographed while still installed, and that set becomes the itemized list. A carrier valuing the vehicle from its VIN sees a cargo van, not a $40,000 interior. Owners of built vehicles should also keep a dated photo set and a receipt folder somewhere retrievable, rather than scattered across three email accounts and a phone that has since been replaced.
What is the appraisal clause in my policy?
Most policies contain a provision for settling a valuation disagreement through independent appraisal, where each side names an appraiser and the two select an umpire. Whether to invoke it is a decision for you, and if you want counsel on that it comes from your own advisor rather than from a repair shop. What the shop supplies is the technical file an independent appraiser would need: itemized scope, structural measurements, teardown photographs, condition records and comparable market listings. Read that section of your own policy before you ever need it.
Why is an RV estimate not just a bigger car estimate?
Because the construction has almost nothing in common. Estimating databases are built around unibody automobiles and contain no operation for a bonded sandwich wall, a molded fiberglass cap, a slide room sitting in its opening, or a laminated floor over steel outriggers. When the closest available line item gets substituted, the resulting number is wrong in kind rather than in degree. Correcting it means rewriting the scope in construction terms, with cross sections photographed at the cut edge so the layup is visible to someone who has never opened one.
Which carriers do you bill?
The shop routinely bills and corresponds with the major carriers writing recreational vehicle, van and commercial policies across Orange County, among them Progressive, GEICO, State Farm, Allstate, Mercury, Nationwide, Foremost, Good Sam, National General, Liberty Mutual and Safeco. Listing a carrier is a statement of billing experience only. It does not indicate affiliation, endorsement, sponsorship, certification, authorization or any preferred shop arrangement, and every company name and mark belongs to its owner rather than to this facility.
What does an insurance walk-in involve?
Bring the vehicle, your claim number and the adjuster contact during business hours and the collision side will look at it. Collision estimates are written at the shop and insurance walk-ins are welcome during business hours. The visit produces intake photographs, a condition log, and on straightforward damage a written repair plan within the same week. A complex structural loss needs a scheduled block instead, because measuring a 40 foot coach against factory datum points is not a fifteen minute exercise at the front counter.

Collision and Body Repair

Panel construction is what separates coach body work from car body work. These answers cover walls, caps, framing, refinish and the technical calls that decide whether something gets repaired in place or cut out and replaced.

Why is a laminated sidewall not repaired like a steel panel?
A steel panel is one material and it can be pulled, filled and refinished as a single skin. A laminated sidewall is a bonded sandwich: outer fiberglass or filon skin, adhesive, block foam or lauan, aluminum tube framing, adhesive again, and an interior finish panel. Its stiffness comes from the bond between layers, the way a plywood beam gets its strength. An impact that shears that bond leaves the wall looking intact while it has stopped behaving as one member, and filler over the dent hides a structural problem instead of correcting it.
How do you decide whether a fiberglass cap is repaired or replaced?
By the crack pattern rather than by how bad it looks. Cracks radiating outward from a single impact point are usually repairable: grind back the damage, lay new glass front and back where access allows, refinish. Cracks originating from two or more points, cracks that cross each other, or a spider pattern reaching a mounting flange all indicate the laminate has failed as a structure. The surrounding area is tap tested to find where the bond released beyond the visible cracking, and that mapped boundary decides it.
What does frame and structural work involve?
Measurement first, against factory datum points, using a measuring system rather than an eye. A member that moved but stayed continuous gets pulled and measured during the pull, so the operator watches it return to datum instead of checking at the end. A member with a fold, a stress crack, a tear at a weld or a thinned section is sectioned out and replaced with new material joined the way the factory joined it, because straightened yielded metal only conceals that it has already failed. Frame straightening bands start around $3,000.
Can you match paint on faded gelcoat?
Matching a 15 year old oxidized surface to a fresh mix is the harder half of any coach refinish. The factory code is a starting point and rarely the answer, because Southern California sun moves a color over time and the panels facing south have moved further than the ones facing north. The process is a variant search, spray out cards, and evaluation under corrected lighting against the actual panel rather than against a chip book. Where the surface has gone chalky, correction or a wider refinish area is the honest recommendation.
Why does a repair on one panel sometimes mean painting the whole side?
Because a motorhome side can run 35 feet with no body line, no seam and a large radius that shows every transition. Automotive blend allowances assume a panel a few feet across with a character line conveniently placed to hide the change. On a surface that long, a partial refinish is visible from across a parking lot in daylight. Where a molded cap seam or a graphics break offers a legitimate stopping point, the blend gets taken. Where none exists, the full side is the only finish that actually disappears.
Can factory decals and graphics be replaced?
Yes, and on most body repairs they have to be. Factory graphics packages are printed vinyl, frequently laid out in multiple pieces crossing the repair area, and they cannot be lifted and reused. Replacement ranges from reprinting the original layout where artwork or a supplier still exists, to recreating it from photographs and measurements when the model has been out of production for years. Decal and graphics replacement bands run $500 to $5,500, and a full vinyl wrap at $1,500 to $9,500 is a separate path.
How much hidden damage is typical after an impact?
On a coach, considerably more than owners expect. Aluminum tube framing bends before a bonded skin tears, so a solid hit on a front cap can leave the sidewall looking untouched while a vertical member two bays back has deformed enough to change the opening it frames. The symptoms are quiet: a compartment latch that needs lifting, a slide seal wearing at one corner, a door that closes cleanly cold and drags in the afternoon. Every structural intake cycles all of it and compares gaps left to right in writing.
Are there dents that cannot be pulled?
Yes. Paintless techniques need access behind the panel and a substrate that still has memory, which rules out most bonded laminated walls where the back of the skin is glued to foam. Sharp creases, stretched aluminum, and any dent crossing a bond line or a framing member usually mean panel repair or section replacement instead. Dent removal and panel repair bands run $300 to $3,500. Where the honest answer is that a pull will leave a visible low spot in direct sun, that gets said before the work is authorized.
What is involved in a full repaint?
Strip and prep dominate the hours. Trim, lights, glass surrounds, graphics and hardware come off, the existing surface is sanded or stripped back to a sound base, repairs are made, then sealer, base and clear go on with documented flash times between coats. On a coach that requires a booth long enough to shoot a full side in a single pass, because a refinish joint in the middle of a 40 foot panel never fully disappears. Full paint refinish bands run $5,000 to $35,000 and up depending on length and color.
Does an RV need ADAS recalibration after a repair?
If it carries the systems, yes. Newer coaches and nearly every van chassis have forward facing radar, lane cameras, blind spot sensors and multi camera views. Removing a bumper cover, replacing a windshield or repairing the panel a sensor bracket mounts to puts those systems out of position, and a few millimeters of bracket error changes how the vehicle reads the road ahead. A scan runs at intake and again before delivery with both reports in the file. Scan and recalibration bands run $275 to $1,800 depending on system count.
How is riveted aluminum skin repaired?
Panel by panel rather than by filling. Aluminum work hardens where it deforms, so a stretched or creased sheet does not return to flat no matter how patiently it is worked, and the correct answer is usually cutting the affected sheet at a seam and installing new material with matching rivet spacing and sealant. Corrosion along the rivet line gets treated before anything closes back up. Aluminum skin and sidewall replacement bands run $2,500 to $25,000 and up, driven mostly by how many sheets are involved.
What causes delamination and can it be fixed?
Delamination is the bond between skin and core releasing, usually from water reaching the adhesive or an impact shearing it. The boundary is found by tapping: a sharp report over sound bond, a dull thud where it has let go. That dull zone is mapped with tape and photographed, and it almost always runs well past the visible bubble. Limited areas can be arrested by injecting adhesive and clamping under vacuum. Once separation crosses framing bays or reaches a seam, the skin is cut and sectioned. Bands run $1,500 to $20,000 and up.
What about compartment doors, entry doors and glass?
All of it is routine collision work rather than an afterthought. Compartment and baggage door repair runs $200 to $1,800, entry and baggage door work $400 to $4,500, and Class A windshield replacement $2,500 to $7,500. Doors are the part of a coach that reveals framing problems first, because a frame that has moved shows up as a latch that no longer lines up long before anything is visible in the skin, so doors get cycled and measured rather than simply adjusted until they close.

RV Systems

Coach systems fail in ways a car never does. Slides, roofs, tanks, LP and two separate electrical systems all live inside the same box, and water eventually reaches every one of them. These answers cover what the shop tests and repairs.

Why does my slide bind or stop halfway?
Usually alignment, sometimes the drive, frequently both. A room sitting out of square in its opening loads the mechanism unevenly, chews wiper seals along one edge, and stops compressing the bulb seal across the top. Diagnosis means measuring all four corners with the room in and out, then running it under load while watching the rails and the drive. Slide mechanism service bands run $500 to $8,500 and up, seal replacement $400 to $3,000, and a full slide room rebuild $1,500 to $7,500.
Can a torn awning be repaired or does it need replacing?
Fabric that has torn at a seam or a roller pocket gets replaced rather than patched, because the load path along that edge is what failed. Where the facility sits, what is inside it, and what it deliberately does not do. The shop is in Yorba Linda and serves Lake Forest owners who drive over to reach it. There is no second location and no branch office.

Where exactly is the shop?
23281 La Palma Ave, Yorba Linda, CA 92887. That is the only location, and every repair is completed there. There is no Lake Forest address, no satellite branch and no separate drop yard anywhere else in Orange County. Lake Forest is the market this shop serves, which means owners drive roughly 19 miles to reach it. The mailing address, the physical address and the address printed on every invoice are all the same Yorba Linda facility.
How do I get there from Lake Forest?
About 19 miles, usually 25 to 35 minutes depending on the hour. Most owners run the 241 north to the 91, or take the 5 to the 55 and then across. In a 40 foot coach the 241 is the calmer of the two, with wider lanes and considerably less merging. Avoid the 91 westbound in the late afternoon if you can choose your time. Nothing gets diagnosed properly over the phone, and a problem looked at early is almost always a smaller repair than the same problem in three months.
Do I get touch up paint?
On custom mixed colors the shop can supply the formula and, where it is useful, a small quantity of matched material. Understand what touch up material is actually for: a chip smaller than a pencil eraser, applied thin and built up over several days. It is not for a scratch running across a panel, where the honest fix is a proper spot repair and blend. Keep the formula somewhere retrievable, because a color mixed for a 12 year old coach cannot be recreated from a factory code alone.
How should I look after a fresh finish?
Wash by hand with a pH neutral soap and two buckets, in shade, working top down. Skip automatic brushes permanently rather than only during the cure window. Remove bug residue and bird droppings quickly, because both etch clear coat within a day in summer heat. Park under cover where you can, since Southern California sun is what oxidized the original surface in the first place. Once the cure window closes, a paint sealant or ceramic coating is the single most effective thing you can do.
When can I take a trip?
Once the walkthrough is complete and the invoice is settled, the vehicle is roadworthy and you can travel. The only real restrictions are the wash and wax windows on fresh paint and keeping heavy water off new sealant for a couple of days. If you are heading straight out on a long trip after structural work, say so at pickup so the 30 day re-check can be scheduled around your return rather than quietly missed while you are three states away.
Can I wax it before the next trip?
Not for 60 to 90 days after a refinish. Wax, paint sealants and ceramic coatings all form a barrier over clear coat that is still releasing solvent, and trapping that in produces a hazy or soft finish that has to be corrected later at real cost. Wash with plain soap and water during the window and leave it there. After the window closes, paint correction and ceramic coating work runs $600 to $4,500 and is worth doing once properly rather than waxing four times a year.
What about putting it into storage right after a repair?
Let a fresh refinish cure in open air rather than under a fitted cover for the first month, because a cover pressed against soft clear can leave texture behind. If the unit is going into storage, winterization runs $250 to $750, and a battery disconnect with a maintenance charge setup protects the bank while it sits. Park level so slide seals are not held out of shape for months. And do the 30 day re-check before it goes into storage rather than after.
