Campers and Travel Trailers Repair Serving Lake Forest
A towable camper is a building on wheels, and it fails the way a building fails rather than the way a vehicle fails. Water gets in at a joint, travels somewhere it cannot be seen, and takes two seasons to announce itself as a soft floor or a bubble in the sidewall. Rooftop Tent Campers
Rooftop tents mounted on vehicles, trailers and utility racks bring the mounting structure into our scope even though the tent itself is soft goods. The failures we see are almost always structural rather than fabric. Crossbars deflect under a load they were rated for statically but not dynamically, rack towers work loose and elongate their mounting holes, and trailer or roof panels peel around bonded rail fasteners. We fabricate and reinforce mounting structures, add proper backing plates inside roof panels, and repair the damage a shifting tent causes to the surface it sits on. Where a tent is mounted to a camper roof, we also address the sealing at every new penetration so the upgrade does not become the next leak.
Flatbed Truck Campers
A flatbed camper replaces the pickup bed entirely and sits on a purpose-built deck, which changes both the mounting and the failure pattern. Instead of jack brackets on the sidewall carrying the whole load, the camper is bolted to a deck at defined points, and side boxes are usually integrated into the camper body. The problems we address are deck-to-camper mounting fatigue, side box door and latch damage, and the sealing of the joint where the camper skirt meets the deck. Because these builds are frequently one-off, fabrication capability matters more than parts availability, and we build brackets and skirt sections to fit the actual truck rather than a catalog dimension.
Pop-Top Truck Campers
Pop-top campers such as the soft-wall models from Four Wheel Campers use a low profile hard base with a lifting roof and fabric sides, which keeps highway height down and makes the camper far more usable off pavement. Their repair profile combines pop-up camper issues with truck camper issues: lift struts and torsion mechanisms that go out of balance, fabric that abrades at the fold, and a base structure that carries jack and tie-down loads. We service the lift geometry, replace fabric panels, rebuild base structure at the jack mounts, and repair the roof panel itself when a branch strike or a hail event has damaged the skin.
Hard-Side Pop-Up Campers
Hard-side folding campers replace canvas with rigid panels that telescope or fold, giving better security and insulation at the cost of weight and mechanical complexity. Because the panels must seal to each other rather than to a single opening, the sealing surfaces are long and the tolerances are tight. Typical repairs are panel flatness restoration after a core has absorbed water, gasket system replacement around the full perimeter, and lift mechanism repair where a jammed panel has bent a linkage. We measure panel geometry before quoting the gasket work, because a new gasket cannot compensate for a panel that has taken a permanent bow.
Destination Trailers
Destination trailers are park-oriented towables built with residential features and very limited towing intent, typically moved once a season if that. They carry full height ceilings, residential appliances, large window walls and multiple slide rooms, all on a chassis that is not designed for repeated highway miles. The repairs we see reflect that: roof and seam leaks from years parked in one place, slide room and leveling problems from sitting on soft ground, and impact damage from the one move per year that is done in a hurry. Structural repairs on these focus on the frame and slide openings, because a destination trailer that has settled unevenly will fight every seal it has.
Lightweight and Ultra-Lite Travel Trailers
Ultra-lite trailers hit their weight targets by using thinner laminate schedules, lighter framing and smaller structural members throughout, which makes them tow beautifully and repair carefully. Fasteners that hold well in a conventional trailer strip in the lighter framing, and panel sections have less material to work with when a repair is faired. Our approach on these is to spread loads rather than concentrate them, using backing plates and bonded reinforcement where a heavier trailer would take a screw. Owners choose ultra-lites for the tow rating, so returning the trailer at its original weight is part of the repair objective rather than an afterthought.
Modular and Collapsible Campers
Modular campers that break down for storage, collapse to a low profile, or convert between cargo and camping configurations bring an unusual amount of moving structure into a small package. The recurring issues are latch and pin wear at the joints that make the modularity possible, seal compression that changes as those joints wear, and panel damage from being configured incorrectly. We rebuild the joints, replace worn pins and bushings, and where the design allows, add wear surfaces that were not there originally. These are frequently small volume products with no parts pipeline, so fabricating a replacement component is often the only path.
