Coachmen Repair For Lake Forest Owners

Coachmen is a Forest River division building Class C motorhomes, Class B vans, gas Class A coaches and light travel trailers out of Middlebury, Indiana. Coachmen repair work at OCRV Center is dominated by cabover geometry, because a large share of the fleet is a fiberglass house bonded to somebody else's cab.

What we see on Coachmen units

Patterns specific to how this manufacturer builds, rather than generic RV advice.

01

Cabover cap to windshield header seam on Freelander and Leprechaun

The plant bonds a molded cabover cap directly above a factory windshield header that was engineered to flex with the truck cab, not with a fiberglass house. Over years of chassis twist the sealant bead at that transition opens in the middle of the span, and the first symptom is a damp cabover mattress on the passenger side rather than a visible crack. Repair means removing the trim, cutting the old bead out completely, checking the cabover floor substrate for softness, and rebonding with a flexible urethane rather than topping the joint with silicone.

02

Oil canning on Apex Nano and Clipper aluminum skins

These trailers are built light on purpose, and the sidewall skin is thin enough that a modest impact leaves a shallow, wide distortion that keeps popping back out under sun load. It is not a dent in the collision sense because the metal has not yielded in a localized way. Pushing it out from behind moves the ripple somewhere else. The repair that holds is a panel section replacement between existing seams, since the panel is stressed and rebonding a patch inside the field just relocates the flex.

03

Basement bay door drift on Sportscoach diesel coaches

The painted flush bay doors on the Sportscoach lines are gapped tight at build, which looks excellent and leaves no tolerance for chassis movement. Once a coach has taken a curb strike or been jacked unevenly on soft ground, the doors start to rub at one corner and owners begin forcing the latches. By the time we see it the latch strikers have wallowed. Setting the doors without first checking the compartment frame for square just moves the rub to the opposite corner.

04

Catalina slide fascia and floor lip separation

The Catalina family uses a shallow flush floor slide where the room floor lip runs over a plastic wear strip. Grit tracked in from campsites grinds that strip, the room begins to drop a fraction at the leading edge, and the fascia trim inside starts pulling away as the room stops meeting the wall squarely. Owners often chase the trim. We replace the wear surface and reset room height first, because trim that is refastened to a drooping room comes loose again within a season.
