Fleetwood Repair For Lake Forest Owners
What we see on Fleetwood units
Patterns specific to how this manufacturer builds, rather than generic RV advice.
Front cap delamination on Bounder and Flair
The cap is bonded to a substrate of foam over lauan, and lauan is a wood product that responds to moisture. Any seam that has admitted water at the top of the windshield or around a clearance light starts the substrate breaking down, and the bond releases in a slowly expanding area. Owners see a soft spot or a shallow bulge in the cap face and read it as impact damage. It is almost never impact. The repair means opening the cap, removing every trace of degraded substrate rather than the obviously wet part, rebuilding the core and rebonding.
Windshield gasket sourcing on pre reorganisation coaches
Coaches built before the corporate reorganisation use gaskets and glass profiles that current parts channels do not carry, and cross referencing them is not straightforward because the part numbering changed. Owners are frequently told the part does not exist when what has actually happened is that nobody has traced it. On these coaches we measure the channel and profile directly and source against dimensions rather than against a superseded part number, which usually finds a workable option.
Pace Arrow entry door frame racking
The entry door on the Pace Arrow lines sits in an opening cut through a laminated sidewall with a stepwell immediately below it, which means the opening has less continuous structure around it than any other aperture on the coach. Chassis flex works that opening, and over time the door begins to catch at the upper latch corner. Owners adjust the striker, which relieves the catch and increases the racking. The correct repair is to reinstate structure around the opening and then set the door, in that order.
Blend boundaries on Discovery LXE full body paint
The Discovery LXE carries full body paint over a gelcoat cap, which means a repair spanning both surfaces is spanning two different substrates with different absorption and different flex. A blend that looks perfect in the booth can show a subtle edge where the paint crosses onto the cap once the coach is in sunlight. We plan the blend boundary at a body line or a graphic break rather than mid panel, and we tell the owner where that boundary will be before the work is authorised.
