Trailer Repair And Structural Work

Trailer repair at OCRV Center covers enclosed cargo, toy hauler, utility, equipment, off-road and tiny home trailers. Typical work is frame and structural welding, floor and wall skin replacement, ramp and roll up door service, axle and brake work, and interior build outs for race, work or mobile business use.

A trailer is the most structural vehicle in the shop, which sounds obvious until you see how many of them are running with a frame that has already moved. There is no engine, no drivetrain and very little to distract from the fact that the frame, the axles and the coupler are doing all of the work. When one of those three is out of specification, the symptom usually presents somewhere else entirely.

The common tell is a door. On an enclosed cargo trailer or a toy hauler, a ramp door that has started to bind, or a man door that needs lifting to latch, is telling you the box is no longer square. Adjusting the striker until it catches is the repair everybody tries first, and it locks the twist in permanently. Measuring the frame and shimming the body back to it fixes the cause.

Build outs are the other half of this work. A cargo trailer converted for racing, for a mobile business or for a workshop is a fabrication job rather than a repair, and it involves floor, walls, insulation, electrical, HVAC and tie down points that all have to carry load without compromising the structure they are attached to. That is welding and layout work, not assembly.

Types we take in

The work involved

01
Frame and Chassis Straightening

Measured correction of bent or twisted chassis rails, crossmembers, A-frames and pin boxes using anchored pulls against factory datum.

02
RV Body Panel Repair

Repair and replacement of exterior panels, compartment doors, skirts, moldings and trim on RVs, trailers and commercial bodies.

03
Flooring and Subfloor Replacement

New floor coverings plus structural deck repair, including soft spot mapping, rot removal and slide room clearance work.

04
Doors, Steps and Hardware

Entry, screen and compartment door alignment and repair, electric step service, latch, hinge, lock and keyless entry work.

05
Chassis, Suspension and Brakes

Air bag and spring suspension, ride height setting, shocks, bearings, hubs, electric and hydraulic brakes, and leveling system service.

06
Custom Fabrication and Welding

One-off brackets, mounts, racks, reinforcements and replacements for discontinued parts, fabricated to measured dimensions in steel or aluminum.

07
Vinyl Wraps and Decals

Full and partial vinyl wraps, fleet graphics, redrawn replacement decals, and removal of sun baked film over a verified sound surface.

08
Roof Repair and Replacement

Membrane, fiberglass and aluminum roof repair, resealing, recoating and full replacement, including decking repair and every rooftop penetration.

09
RV Electrical Repair

Fault isolation and repair across 12-volt and 120-volt circuits, load centers, transfer switches, converters, grounds and branch wiring.

Questions owners ask

Can you weld a cracked trailer frame?
Yes, and the important part is what happens before the welder comes out. A crack is a symptom of load going somewhere it was not designed to go, so the frame gets measured and the cause identified first. Welding the crack without correcting the geometry produces a repair that cracks again slightly further along, usually within a season.
Do you replace trailer floors?
Yes, in wood, aluminum and steel deck. Floor replacement is frequently the moment the real condition of the crossmembers becomes visible, so the estimate covers the floor and the assessment covers what is under it. Where rot has reached the outriggers, that gets addressed at the same time rather than being closed back up.
Do you do interior build outs and conversions?
Yes. Race trailers, mobile workshops, mobile business conversions and toy hauler garages. That covers layout, floor and wall systems, insulation, twelve volt and shore power electrical, HVAC, lighting and tie down engineering. It is fabrication work, so the timeline is longer than a repair and the plan matters more.
What about brakes and axles?
Electric, surge and hydraulic brake service, axle replacement, bearing repack and hub work, plus suspension across leaf, torsion and air ride. Running gear on trailers gets neglected more than on any other class of vehicle in the shop, and it is inexpensive to service relative to what it causes when it lets go.
